Why do we give diamond engagement rings? Why do we dream about
marrying Prince Charming? And what does Starbucks have to do with love?
These are some of the questions we hope to answer in our list, The 50 Most Influential People In Love.
In the slides that follow you'll find people from the past and
present who have had a profound influence on both the concept of love—the way
people understand and think about romance—and the practice of love—the
actions people take to find, pursue and keep it.
There's no scientific way to determine this kind of influence, but
as the experts in love and relationships, we spend hours submerged in this
stuff. For the past several months we've been thinking, writing and
debating who should go on the list.
You'll encounter expected folks like John Gray, author of the classic, Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus,
as well as less obvious people, like Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg,
who created a site that has dramatically changed the way we interact
with one another.
We hope our selections will inspire, delight and surprise you. And
we welcome your feedback! Who did we leave off? Who are you glad to see
on the list? Let us know by leaving a comment below!
