The Pacific Coast Highway is a 600-mile cliff-hugging drive that nonetheless offers breath-taking coastal views of the Pacific waters. Stop and stretch your legs at Carmel-by-the-Sea, a small, upscale city of restaurants, shops, art galleries and homes hidden in the Monterey pines. Stand hand-in-hand on the rocky outcroppings to breathe in the salty air and watch the tide crash onto the rocks below. After all that driving, you'll probably be starving, so get your fill of seafood at Casanova, the city's self-proclaimed "most romantic restaurant." And admit it, nothing beats the flushed colors of a Cali sunset (except, maybe kissing in the presence of one).
