I am a licensed professional counselor. I hold a Master of Education degree in Counseling. I have worked in a variety of areas with a diverse population. I help people solve their problems and feel good about themselves. I empower people to reach their personal, career, educational and relationship goals. I've worked successfully with clients in foster care, schools, organizations and Corporate America. Additionally I am a CEAP, which stands for Certified Employee Assistance Professional. I work with business leaders and their staff to create working environments that are conducive to production and growth for the company and the individual. I also am a SAP, which stands for Substance Abuse Professional. With this certification I am able to monitor Drivers, who are licensed thru the Federal Department of Transportation who have not complied with drug and alcohol licensing laws. Furthermore, I have written numerous articles related to mental health issues and wellness. I see clients that have issues with managing stress, anxiety and depression as well as help clients with interrelationship issues. Some of the articles I've written involved subject matters dealing with mindfulness, positive psychology, meditation, building resiliency, compassion fatigue, physical versus mental health, the importance of mental health and work/life balance. Some of the categories I have assisted with include, alcoholism and addiction, wellness, parenting and family issues, self improvement, workplace issues, grief, safety, mental health and stress management.
I enjoy educating the public and bringing an awareness about mental health issues and assisting others with increasing self care activities. I facilitate community and workplace trainings, do individual, family and group counseling.
I am also knowledgeable in financial management. I have received certification from the FDIC, Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation to facilitate The Money Smart financial education program. I have assisted clients with things from creating a budget to providing resources for wealth management.
I have worked with children in the foster care system and their foster parents to deal with adjustment issues that are a direct result from family disruption. I have also provided intensive in home therapy to families who have been at eminent risk of having their children removed from their home due to abuse or neglect. I have facilitated sessions in skill building and taught coping skills to these families.
I have a Facebook page titled Tips of the Trade which is a community page that provide quotes and information for daily living inspired by real therapy sessions with real people.
