About Jill Kofender
I am a licensed Clinical Psychologist in private practice in Michigan. I have 17 years of experience working with adults, couples, adolescents, and children. I provide psychotherapy to clients with anxiety, stress, ocd, panic attacks, social phobia, depression, medical/health concerns, self-esteem difficulties, and relationship challenges (including those of dating, marriage, divorce, and blended families.) I work collaboratively with clients to help them make effective changes and find practical, enduring solutions to emotional and psychological difficulties. I believe that all relationships are important, whether it be a relationship with a significant other, family members, friends, or co-workers. Furthermore, I believe that the relationship we each have with ourselves is of the utmost importance in the path towards happiness and emotional well being. I offer a results-oriented approach to help clients attain the personal growth they are striving for, so that they may reach their fullest potential and improve their quality of life. I have worked in a wide array of treatment settings, and have conducted a variety of clinical research. I have co-authored a journal publication, and have been featured on the medical lifestyle talk show "Ask Dr. Nandi". I am a member of the American Psychological Association and the Anxiety and Depression Association of America.
In addition to my experience as a clinical psychologist, I have gained increased understanding of how to navigate the joys and challenges of many of life’s obstacles through my own personal experiences. For example, I am a divorced mother of two children, and I am also a breast cancer survivor. My writing reflects the union between my professional and personal experiences, reinforcing the idea that we have control over our own happiness by how we choose to think about and react to life’s challenges. I emphasize the importance of finding balance in life, as well as appreciating and being grateful for all of life’s positive moments.
